CREATIVITY :: THE 5 COMMON UNCOMMONS The prowess of the mind’s thoughts & imaginations that evolve and cause ideas to come into being through unconventional processes have hidden elements which needs to be understood by anyone embarking on this thrilling and unpredictable journey of creativity. Many reading this piece will come to a sudden realization of what they may not have considered or have been in denial of as far as manipulating the strength of the brain. These underlying but essential facts about creativity has been the extracts from my experiences over the years of daring to dream and pushing through to the final creation of uniqueness. I believe many have had similar experiences in the attempt to push boundaries into unfamiliar zones. Among the numerous common uncommon facts of creativity include the following 5 below: 1. There is nothing ‘new’ under the sun; implying that our immediate environment and life experiences are some of the most powerful sources of inspiration sparking the process of creativity. And it builds up into a tremendous final outcome that makes it almost impossible to trace its initiation. In fact, about 99% of most creations have been an expansion, improvement or enhancement of existing ideologies and the impact of the various outcomes of individuals & humanity masks the very basics of the final outcome, giving the illusion of an entirely new creation. Thus, there is no need to look very far to initiate this rewarding effort of being creative. Otherwise, you are bound to not dare an idea, be stuck midway or to achieve nothing that you will be pleased with. Moreover, the 1% that usually has the most powerful impact on humanity tends to face the greatest difficulty, resistance and outright rejections. So count yourself favoured for not being a victim of your own ingenuity. 2. People don’t actually appreciate ‘true’ creativity. They claim to desire fresh and entirely new ideas but an encounter with unfamiliarity emits less relate-able feelings which breed misunderstanding and eventually leads to disassociation and rejection. This is the category where the 1% of creations usually falls, and they are mostly branded as weird, craziness and madness. Hence, for creativity to be accepted by the masses there is the need for a reflection of familiarity which doesn’t make the idea entirely new. 3. Thinking-outside-the-box may not necessarily be unique and creative so don’t get obsessed over it. Many subconsciously take the easy path of avoiding a challenge, and convince themselves with the mentality of being versatile by staying outside the box. They never get the most rewarding experience of sticking to what you excel at without staying the same. Thus, thinking within a box without being trapped is by far more challenging & rewarding, and those are the ideas that tend to win the mass approval. 4. The real essence of creativity is not to please everybody, but to rather push yourself beyond limits into “unfamiliar non existence”. In other words, be bold and daring to reach for the unthinkable and your efforts will at least be rewarded with the least of impossibilities. The level of consciousness attained in the process will prepare you for relentless criticisms, discrimination, rejections, appreciation, love, fame, popularity, likes and dislikes among others. It is obvious, that the effort you put in is for your benefit of staying unique and not for anyone else’. 5. Accidents have resulted in some of the most cutting edge creations and it’s almost impossible to explain. However, it takes a genius to spot the great rewards of accidental creations. They tend to exist from the initiation of the creative process to the very end, and one must be exceptionally observant, open and experimental to reap these benefits. I personally believe it is the results of a combination of our spiritual inclination which taps into the part of the brain than we never utilize in a lifetime. CONCLUSION To the creative soul I say, there are no right nor wrong set of rules when it comes to the prowess of your brains imagination so don’t over think it. Be inspired by your life experiences and all that is around you. Live up to a challenge and know when to move on but never discard any ideology or initiated effort because they tend to lead us place we never thought or knew existed. An ideal means of reaching people is familiarity in “new” ideas and be prepared not please all of them. Finally, tap into that spiritual entity which the conscious mind cannot access, by staying experimental and unserious about your serious journey of creativity. BE INSPIRED!
