This was one of those wonderful days when my energy ran out before - TopicsExpress

This was one of those wonderful days when my energy ran out before the day did. On the other hand, I had one helluva day. I got up this morning and decided that since I probably won’t get out much next weekend, I needed to go down to Piedmont Park for the arts festival. I am soooooo glad I did. Gd hd such an amazing array of people ready for me to meet. I saw a bunch of artists that I’ve known for years. They were all so kind to me. We didn’t talk much about “you know what” which was great. There is one guy from Young Harris whose Aunt has bc. I asked how she was doing and we discussed a bunch of new work he had done. I’ve decided to get rid of my first piece since moving in here 2 years ago. I got it at the Habitat for Humanity Reuse store but it is worth about $2k according to a friend that knows art. I’m going to consign it and use the money to buy a new piece from him that is more in line with what I am doing in my living room. I read on the website this morning that that had a creativity area where, for a very small fee ($2 avg) you can make your own art. After the amazing collage that Bonnie made me, I really want to learn how to create them. They had a lady that was teaching that and even does private collage parties. I started working on something with her guidance and decided to walk the festival first in case it began raining. She was under a tent, so I knew rain or shine I could work with her. As it turned out, the weather was great. I met a wonderful couple from Asheville that make great jewelry. They won’t be in Asheville when I go Thanksgiving or in January when I go for the NA convention. Hopefully I will get back there in the spring and see them before they get to Atlanta. They live in the mountains and have a farm on top of their art business…. Pretty cool, huh? As I was walking I heard a couple speaking Hebrew. Since I understood, I didn’t think it was good timing to introduce myself. Normally when I hear people speaking Hebrew I chime in. I don’t get to speak often, so when I do, it is a treat. As it turned out, I ran into them later on as well. It turned out there were 3 of them. I had a lovely chat, in Hebrew with the two that were married. I invited them over for Rosh Hashana dinner, but I don’t think they will make it. We are going to get together for dinner after the Jewish holidays most likely. She is a PhD and has some big job with a company near Georgia Tech. I met another couple that sold jewelry…earings that didn’t match as a matter of fact. They live in England part of the year, Florida part of the year, and travel to shows. I so would love to follow them around. They were an awesome couple. Of course I bought earrings I didn’t need, but they were so cool. This is also their last show of the year, so I got a great deal. I offered to work for jewelry. They also make amazing sterling pieces that were out of my price range. While there a lady began telling me about her sister who is currently fighting Stage 3 bc with the most aggressive chemo there is called Red Devil. We chatted for quite a while. I gave her my card and offered to call her sister or she could call me if she wanted to talk. I am leaving it up to her at this point. We all get to do this our own way and I want to afford her privacy until she says otherwise. There is so much more to write and I am soooooo tired. I met a very sweet lady selling the AJC newspaper on my way in. She only had gift cards to WalMart to give away if I signed up, and I haven’t walked into one of those in over 10 years and don’t plan to in this lifetime. I told her I would come by on my way out and I’m sure she didn’t believe me. I did stop over and not only did she give me a gift card for Publix, she gave me a book of restaurant coupons similar to the old Entertainment books. I also remembered to go back and finish my collage. I had such a fun time. The lady (I forget her name) wrote out instructions on how to dye paper and paper towels to use in the pieces. I really had a blast with her. I could go on and on about all the awesome people I met, but I won’t. My phone battery died, so I took the long way home on purpose. I stopped at a bagel shop I used to go to all the time and saw a man I haven’t run into in probably 6-8 years. I didn’t know if he would recognize me bald, but he did and I felt like he was genuinely happy to see me which made me feel good. I used to have a crush on him, but I doubt he ever looked at me in that way. From there I went and grabbed a quick dinner and went home to collapse for a little while. A neighbor down the street got a new dog and he is slowly warming up to me which was very exciting since he only likes one other person in the neighborhood. I got a text from my neighbor that her daughter had something she wanted to give me. Our timing was off today, so I have something to look forward to tomorrow. When my nap was unsuccessful (this was now 7:00), I went to CVS to get a bunch of stuff I needed with a coupon they sent me. For the first time in 5 months I bought shampoo and conditioner. I was using something I had at home the last little while, but wanted to get something new now that my hair is VERY slowly starting to grow back. I stopped shopping at the CVS that is ½ a mile from the house because the manager was a jerk. I knew they had a new manager and had been there a couple times. I met the sweetest lady tonight, Dana, who is the assistant manager. She walked thru the store and helped me with everything on my list. My back is really hurting and I couldn’t pick up the things I needed that were heavy. We had such a great talk and she told me how she coupons and how much fun it is. Even though I’m single, I would love to do it just because she made it sound like so much fun. I ran to Brewster’s for a treat and yapped with a friend on the way. I’m home now, it is almost 10:00 and I’m tired beyond words. I know next weekend won’t be nearly as much fun, but hopefully I can fit some enjoyment in. There are 2 great festivals now far from home and I hope to get to at least one of them if not both. Tomorrow is art therapy with Millie and all the house stuff I need to get done before surgery. My back is really hurting, so I need to be careful. I can’t take any chances of pulling my back. I forgot I have chemo Wednesday…YAY! I get to see the girls!!! Hope you are having at least as much fun this weekend as I have so far. Hugs!!!
