CRITICISING ALEXANDER RESIDENCE COMMUNITY MEETING ANNOUNCEMENTS June 6 2013 A HEALTHY CRITICISM OF THE ALEXANDER RESIDENCE COMMUNITY MEETINGS ANNOUNCEMENTS WRITTEN FORMATS IVAN: So that I am not misunderstood, my criticism of how the announcements of the community meetings at the ‘Alexander Residence’ by Nicole Grays, general manager, Alexander Residence are written and presented. And I must assume this is an agreed activity by the Alexander Residence Staff ‘Social Worker & Activities Coordinators (certainly on the basis of democratic realities, this written format of ‘Announcing Community Meetings’ at the ‘Alexander Residence’ must be an agreed upon practice in not only Nicole Grays, general manager, but also Michael Hanns, assistant manager at the ‘Alexander Residence’, and the mysterious ‘Leadership Committee’ at the ‘Alexander Residence’ – in short, the whole of the activity should not be the total burden responsibility of Nicole Grays, general manager at the ‘Alexander Residence’. Being very practical, I base my criticisms on two experienced perspectives of not only reading, but applications from CCSF under professor Yvonne Hunnicutt of English Communications, now retired from the English department at CCSF, and the organized conduct of Buddhist meetings organized by SGI-USA in local communities (SGI-USA: sgi-usa.org) Bibliography: Two books: ‘Technical English: Writing, Reading, and Speaking’, by Nell Ann Pickett & Ann A. Laster, ISBN: 0-06-045221-8. The main text used by Professor Yvonne Hunnicutt in English Communications at CCSF. AND ‘Makiguchi: The Value Creator: Revolutionary Japanese Educator And Founder of Soka Gakkai (SGI-USA: sgi-usa.org), translation by Dayle M. Bethel, ISBN: 0-8348-0318-6. Tusnesaburo Makiguchi (1871-1944), founder of the ‘Soka-Gakkai’, known in America as ‘SGI-USA’: sgi-usa.org, was highly inspired by American scharlor professor emeritus of education Dr. John Dewey. (John Dewey, WebPage: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Dewey ) Tsunesburo Makiguchi, WebPage: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsunesaburo_Makiguchi Alexander Residence HUD SRO Announced Vague Agendas Based in Fragmented Sentences Based upon the two above bibliographies books and of course anyone who has taken classes in creative writing and communications, the following announcements authored by Nicole Grays, general manager of the Alexander Residence are extremely vague as a basis for announced agendas that members of the ‘Alexander Residence HUD SRO Community’ should concern themselves with as tenant clients of the ‘Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation’ tenancy subsidiary in Jane Kims, district six supervisor of District Six Tenderloin Area. Nicole Grays writing is as follows verbatim direct quote: 1. Resident- announcement ? 2. Property Management: Green Initiative ? 3. Activities Coordinators- who attends activities and guidelines ? 4. Social Workers- Announcements ? All of Nicole Grays agenda sentences that should be of concern for the tenant occupancy participation as a community are vague and fragmented sentences, if we are to follow the definite rules of the English language which are based upon the following ‘Technical English: Writing, Reading, and Speaking’, by Nell Ann Pickett & Ann A. Laster, ISBN: 0-06-045221-8. Now I regard Nicole Grays and Michael Hanns as very good managers of the Alexander Residence HUD SRO Low Income Housing rental facilitation’s under the subsidiary of TNDC. But in Nicole Grays announcement of community meetings, I feel this activity in making the decision to have a community meeting in the first place, should be a participation of people like Michael Nulty and the mysterious leadership team at the ‘Alexander Residence HUD SRO Low Income Residence’. And then when the announcement itself is passed around to each rental unit, the written ‘Agendas’ should not be written in such a vague formatted fragmented sentences. Now I realize, as Nicole Grays, and Michael Hanns realizes, that there are some people at the ‘Alexander Residence’ that are mentally challenged, but being mentally challenged is not the case in the vast population of residence at the ‘Alexander Residence HUD SRO Low Income Rental Facilitation’ – in fact there are some very intelligent people living at the ‘Alexander Residence’. Perhaps Nicole Grays, general manager of the Alexander Residence, and her assistant Michael Hanns, would have a greater success of tenant participation in her announced community meetings if she would consider the perspectives of John Dewey and Tsunesaburo Makiguchi – in this way taking advantage of the intelligent residence at the tenancy of the ‘Alexander Residence HUD SRO Low Income Housing Facilitation’s’. I’m, Ivan, as I’ve always said, ‘admire Nicole Grays and Michael Hann’s teamwork in management at the ‘Alexander Residence’, if I did not like their work as managers, I would not bother to write this criticism; but no ones perfect, and if you don’t create a positive criticism of a persons abilities and work, how in the world do you expect them to do a good job – especially if they are on business salary to do a good job. When Nicole Grays started her job duties at the ‘Alexander Residence HUD SRO Low Income Housing, under the subsidiary of the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, one of her pet words was, and I noticed, was quote, ‘practicality’. I must agree with Nicole Grays, in a management position of any kind, the word ‘practicality’ is most definitely a necessity in creating coordination in a community -–I think Nicole Grays and the resident community at the Alexander Residence will appreciate my criticism, in Ivan’s attempt to contribute to making the Alexander Residence Community strong and democratic in the creation of it’s future activities; in which I feel the burden of creating future community meetings should not be the total burden and responsibility on Nicole Grays, general manager of ‘Alexander Residence HUD SRO Low Income Housing Facilitation’s under the subsidiary of the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation.
