*** CROSS POST *** NOT A BBR DOG*** Rupert was admitted to the Animal Medical Center (AMC) of Anniston on March 10th by a Good Samaritan after having been hit by a car. He was stable and alert, but had a broken right forelimb--both the radius and ulna were fractured. Dr. Nelson agreed to try to surgically repair the leg. The bones were pinned and the leg was splinted and Rupert was boarded at AMC to keep him quiet and monitor the bandage. On April 7th, it was determined that the fractures were not healing and he had suffered nerve damage in the limb. It was decided that amputation was needed and Rupert was again taken to surgery a few days later to remove the entire right forelimb, as well as neuter him. We kept him under close watch for the 2 weeks following the amputation and there were no complications. Rupert has made a full recovery from his surgery and is now ready to be adopted. He has learned to get around well on 3 legs and continues to be a very loving and playful young dog. He is a joy to all that have met him and will make a wonderful pet for someone. Anyone interested in adopting him should contact AMC at 256-236-8387 and ask for Susan Bryant or Dr. Haley F. Burke.
