Caffeine disrupts the quality of your sleep by reducing rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, the deep sleep when your body recuperates and processes emotions. When caffeine disrupts your sleep, you wake up the next day with an emotional handicap. This affects all chai (tea) drinkers (including me) because most of us drink chai(tea) regularly and usually twice a day. A 8 oz cup of black tea has about 14-70 mg of Caffeine in it. It takes 24 hours for Caffeine to get out of our bodies. So, even if we take a cup of tea in the morning, we still have plenty of caffeine in our body. Then we drink another cup at night and the process starts all over, thus our blood is never caffeine free. As a result, at the time of sleep we have caffeine with 100% strength in our blood.
