Calories In. Calories Out. It sounds very old school, right? Not like some of the nutrition trends in the health and fitness industry these days...something new, the latest and best fat burning diet, scientific studies that have just been released showing a new and better way for humans to lose weight. Calories in, calories out may sound very basic and too simple, especially with all the latest information flooding your social media feeds. You may think it should be more complicated than simply calories in, calories out but our bodies have not been reengineered...they still work they same as they always have since the first humans walked the earth. That said, regardless of what nutrition trend you choose to follow, the bottom line is to make sure that you are expending more calories than you are consuming. If your goal is weight loss/fat loss, you will need to create a caloric deficit. No matter what new research finds, whole, non processes foods eaten in the right amount at the right time will produce the results youre looking for. There is no magic diet. To lose weight, burn more than you eat. And Im definitely not advocating for you to be a slave to calorie counting devices (Heart rate monitors, bod pods, my fitness pal, etc) either but its good to have an idea what your caloric intake and output is most days. Obviously, there is another layer of this that goes into macronutrient partitioning and what works best for you as an individual, but thats a whole other post entirely.
