Can everyone please take 15 minutes out of their lives to read up on Monsanto. Its some pretty serious and scary stuff and its worth educating yourself on. Its not about whether GMOs are bad for you or not (We dont know because we have only been consuming them since the 90s). Its about a company that is controlling our country and many others. They have control over the governments actions and the farmers that grow our food to keep us healthy. Monsanto makes seeds for farmers that are created in a laboratory (these seeds create a lot of the food you eat). They changed the farming world overnight by creating a seed that will withstand weed killers. Because of its efficiency and low cost, farmers are forced into using the seed that come with a laundry list if stipulations from Monsanto. Monsanto has made $24 million off of our farmers because their seed has blown into a nearby crops and sued the farmer for infringement on their patent. Monsanto then becomes the new owner of that farm if infringement is ruled. Other countries have decided to ban GMOs, why not the US? Just this past month Guatemala fought back as the US tried to incorporate Monsanto into the US-Central American trade agreement. Guatemala was smart and decided they didnt want a big corporation owning their crops and controlling their farming. My guess is Monsanto will come back with even more incentive that they will not be able to refuse, sadly.
