Can you keep a secret? We’re planning something very special at the end of tonight’s newscast to pay tribute to a man who’s made an invaluable contribution to CTV National News. You wouldn’t know him if you ran into him, but if our show was a ship, our director Brian Lebold would be ‘the captain.’ In 40-plus years in broadcasting, he has directed just about everything -- from Canada AM to the National News, from federal elections to breaking news network specials. Is it any wonder why his hair is white? We’re going to give you a glimpse into our Control Room tonight, where Brian occupies the director’s chair, and Lisa LaFlamme is going to try to say ‘thanks’ on behalf of all of us. Of course, Brian has no idea this is going to happen. Don’t worry, he’s not much of a Facebook guy so there’s a pretty good chance he won’t read this. See you at 11.
