Canadas privacy laws when it comes to census records and whatnot - TopicsExpress

Canadas privacy laws when it comes to census records and whatnot drive me crazy sometimes. Wanna do the family tree of an American celebrity? If theyre middle aged and you can get their parents names off Wikipedia, youre already probably far enough back to use the 1940 census and youre pretty much on a roll. A Canadian celebrity? Without at least their grandparents, youre pretty much stuck. No censuses, practically no vital records, almost nothing until you get back to 1921. And of course, itll only get worse for future genealogists, since Canadas privacy laws just keep getting more and more extreme. (Opt-in to have your census information eventually released? Wtf?)
