Cant remember if I posted this stuff before, but I was just on the Illinois Tollway site and I saw that Hanover Park mayor Rodney Craig is the chair of the Local Action Committee for the EOWA. Hes also on the Metra board. Oddly (or not), he is doing government stuff in transit that I always thought I might like to do if I didnt hate politics so much. Now I know who to ask about why the Tollway decided not to spend a little of that $3.4 billion on the Lake St. interchange in Hanover Park. If the area is expected to grow and traffic to increase, then then the US 20/Lake St. interchange is a vital piece of infrastructure that is currently crumbling, as well as being impassable for pedestrians on a major HP corridor. They built this as a temporary interchange for the extension to Elgin, and from what I gather that extension is 20-30 years away. This was a major missed opportunity by HP and I would like to know what the reason was other than some bull about not enough money. Although I imagine it might cost over $50 million for a complete replacement and a small extension to County Farm Rd. Building roads is crazy expensive. More posts below.
