Car saga day 10. After 4 full tech days and checking every part of the car as well as a partial disassembling of the engine, the answer is... still a mystery.I have now been added as a unique problem to the Ford world hot bulletin database looking for any mechanic that may have run across a similar problem of random wiring code malfunction without testable or traceable cause. The assumption at this point based upon other recalled model years is that there is a rubbed wire behind the dashboard near the AC motor causing voltage death enough to fuddle the computer into thinking something is wrong all while not actually showing up under normal testing. That being said, for 15/day, I now have a Ford Escape on permanent loan from the dealership until they get to the bottom of this. The regional engineer will be flying in on this one sometime early next week. Earliest guess if all things go right is at least a full week to get it back. No basis of repair cost estimate at this point... but the blank check has already gone through the roof.
