Carnival Run 09Mar2014 at Bedok Reservoir First time participating a race running around Bedok Reservoir and I enjoyed this run despite feeling fatigued as still recovering from full marathon run last Sunday. Got to race site early to look around and walk up the hill to have an elevated view of reservoir. It looked like a long run but 1 loop round the reservoir is about 5km. After yesterdays stressful event at the Venus Run whereby several things went wrong one after another, this time round I made sure I checked I have my race bid, shoes, running top and shorts and other essential checked and rechecked before setting off from home. Race started at 6pm and initial part of run involve running up a slope and sprinting downslope and then following along the reservoir edge. Throughout run felt pain and really wanted to stop to walk but decided to keep going instead but running slowly. Somehow after 2/3km decided to just pick up speed a little but bearing in mind not to risk injury. Finished run is less than 30min I think and on the whole actually enjoyed this run better than Venus Run. Firstly, was more comfortable in the normal running top and shorts. Its also quite scenic is some part of reservoir. Supposedly there are 1500 participants, hope my timing will justify coming in at least within the top 200 placing. Regardless, I enjoyed my little walk up the hill to take photos.
