Cast your Care - Coin by Coin A man moved to the big city where the cost of living was considerably higher – in more ways than one. Leaving his comfort zone meant that he was out of his element. Everything was new and scary. During his first few weeks, he worried a lot. He would ride the downtown train racked with fear about everything from paying his bills to whether he was making a good impression on his new boss. In a sense, his anxiety went on a shopping spree, picking up every care and concern that he could possibly find. His faith was in the red. Can we identify? Do we know those times when were deep in the debt of worry? And we look to our faith only to find that we dont have enough to cover our expenses? Our head is swirling with worst case scenarios, and every day were waiting for our market to crash. And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? – Matthew 6:27 (NASB) Worry has no currency in this world. None. Going over that problem again and again in our mind wont solve anything, and it wont get us anywhere. Worry can only succeed at getting us frustrated. It weakens our faith and allows fear to take control. Were not in control. We cant always keep our lives perfectly balanced like we do our checkbook. Weve got to turn it over to God. Hes the only one who can keep us in perfect peace in a volatile world. Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall. – Psalms 55:22 (NIV) Wherever we are, we imagine that someone is next to us and in His hands is a large pot full of coins. Whenever a problem comes up, we see it as a coin in our hand that we drop into that pot. Sometimes well even physically stretch out our hands and make the motion of dropping the coin. In our heads, we can hear the sound that the coin makes as it hits the other coins. Clink!! With every worry that we toss His way, we will feel freer. The burden of fear will lift off our shoulders and on to His, which is where theyre supposed to be in the first place. We can relax and know that every bill that life hands you has already been paid by the Father through Jesus Christ.
