Centenarian, Nonagenarian cast votes for peace, employment to their kins =>A 110 years old woman cast her vote on Wednesday in Ganderbal with a hope that peace will prevail in Kashmir valley. Zoona Begum who claims to have been hit by a bullet during 1965 Indo-Pak war near Drass Kargil while exercise her franchise at Gagangeer Kangan told CNS that she has witnessed lot of bloodshed from past 20 years and now she hopes that Kashmir issue be resolved through peaceful dialogue between India and Pakistan. “I am voting to elect a representative who could raise our issues in Indian parliament. Eversince I attained maturity, I voted for the right candidate and this time also I voted for the candidate whom I believe is fit for the job,” frail Zoona Begum said. Another centenarian, Fazi Banoo wife of Muhammad Sultan who is 108 years old after casting her vote at polling booth number 91 Sarach Chodhribagh Ganderbal said that every member in their family in jobless. “All my educated and well-qualified grandsons are unemployed and I want job for them. They are dejected with the present system and they despite stopping me from casting my vote, I voted with a hope that this time a right representative would do anything for them,” she said. Nonagenarian, Khatija Begam from Chadoora Budgam told CNS that this time she changed her mind and voted for a different candidate. “There was peace all around when I was youth, but now life has become cheap and human worthless. I pray to Allah that through this election peace will prevail all around Kashmir Valley,” she said. (CNS)
