Challenger friends: Here is the website to check for the 8.4/8.4N update - I had done a cheater way to reset it and it did make some difference, and then ran across this update (which most dealers are claiming this update doesnt exist!) - I did the update, but didnt seem to make any real difference, perhaps my first reset actually worked. It seems the problem has been reported mainly in Sound Group II of low bass or XM quality. I will also post some helpful instructions in what to do (I didnt write it, but followed it). https://rsur.extra.chrysler/rsur/Uconnect.do First, open FireFox and go to https://rsur.extra.chrysler/rsur/Uconnect.do On the far upper left of the FireFox window, click the little shield icon (its just to the right of the back arrow). Drop down Options and select Disable Protection For Now. There will be a slash through the shield and the page will reload. You can do the same thing in Chrome but the shield is on the right of the address bar instead of the left. Enter the last 8 of your VIN and click the Do I Qualify button. A new page opens: click the green + on that page. Make a selection for How did you hear about this site. Check your OS (Windows/Mac). Click the Download UConnect System Software button. The tutorial appears: you can either click Next through all the items or just click Skip. A save dialog should appear now. On my Win7 system, it saves it in my Windows user folder (under my user account name). I just click OK here and leave that location. For now, its just downloading the self-extractor: that file goes on your computer and not the USB. Click OK on the Download Complete dialog. Now it wants to open the EXE file it just downloaded. Wait the 3 seconds and then click the Open button to run the EXE file you just downloaded. Next it gives you an extract location. This is where you want to give it the location of your USB flash drive. Make sure a USB flash drive is plugged in and know where it is located. Mine was P:\ but yours will probably be different. Give it the path of your USB flash drive (like P:\) and itll extract the swdl.iso file to the USB flash drive. If you choose a different location like c:\tmp, itll give you c:\tmp\swdl.iso and you can just copy swdl.iso to the USB flash drive, root folder. That swdl.iso is the only file that needs to be on the USB flash drive: in the root folder. Take the USB flash drive out to the car. Put the car in Acc mode and wait until the stereo boots up. Then insert the USB flash drive into the USB slot in the center console. It might recognize it after a few seconds automatically but me: I clicked Media on the cars display and then USB so it would look at the USB drive. Dont know if you need to do that but doing that will give you the update message in the car: just click Yes indicating you want to install the update. Wait for all 11 system files to upload (probably about 10-15 minutes). Once it gets to 100%, the system will restart. Leave it alone after it restarts! Mine said Radio not activated, start engine and I listened and did that. Dont do it. I did start the engine and it interrupted the process and I had to start over from the top making sure to NOT start the engine the second time. Just let it sit for another minute or two and youll get a message that says that the software was validated and is ready to install. When you answer Yes again, itll go through the same 11 updates (actually installing them this time). Not sure whether it is reading the USB card a second time, but you see the same dialog twice (with the percentages). When its done the second time, it has updated. After it restarts again, you can remove the USB flash drive and go to Controls, Settings, System Information and confirm that you have the 14.47 version.
