Chamber member Hillsdale Golf and Country Club has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking a food and beverage operator. With assistance from the Chamber, the Club’s Board of Directors decided to issue the RFP after the previous operator, Rick Tropiano, chose not to renew his lease in 2015 so he could focus on operation of his popular Johnny T’s Restaurant and Banquet Hall (also a Chamber member). The Club hopes to have a new tenant in place by April 1, 2015. They are willing to entertain a variety of flexible lease terms as well as enter into a Management Agreement with the new operator for use of the Club’s existing liquor license. The tenant will hold exclusive rights to all food and beverage service for any regularly scheduled or special event held at the Club. The Club remains open to the new tenant offering dining options to the public, included dockside service. The Board of Directors of the Hillsdale Golf & Country Club believes this is a unique opportunity for a creative establishment to serve our members and the public in a dining experience. Whether the menu centers on sandwiches and beverages, or has an upscale taste, we are committed to work with the proprietor to promote their success, said Steve Ross, Board President. A community fixture since it opened in 1904, HGCC is a private, nine (9) hole Tom Bendelow designed golf course with rolling hills and spectacular views of Lake Baw Beese. Its nearness to Downtown Hillsdale, The Hillsdale County Fairgrounds, Sandy Beach, the Baw Beese Trail, and proximity to M-99, make it particularly suitable for the creation of a destination business. “Destination businesses generate jobs and create demand for local goods and services, but equally important is the outside dollars they attract to the community, often referred to as “green money” that is not already circulating in our local economy,” said Chamber Executive Director, Christine Bowman. Given the large up-front capital investment required to launch a restaurant, Bowman also feels the RFP is a superb opportunity for a start-up restaurateur or an established restaurateur seeking a growth opportunity. Interested parties can obtain a copy of the RFP and schedule a site visit by contacting Steve Ross at (517) 320-0210 or (517) 439-9280.
