Champions League: UEFA fine Ajax over offensive banner during game against Celtic UEFA have fined Ajax £21,000 after their fans displayed an offensive banner during their Champions League game against Celtic. The message, directed at travelling supporters, was unfurled at the Amsterdam ArenA on 6 November during the Group H game, which the home team went on to win 1-0. A statement from the European governing body read: The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has fined Ajax for the improper conduct of their supporters and specifically for the displaying of an offensive banner at the match against Celtic on 6 November in Amsterdam. Clashes between Celtic fans and police in the city ahead of the match, which subsequently led to six men appearing in court, falls outside of UEFAs jurisdiction. Ajax also faces a second disciplinary hearing at UEFA next week after Dutch fans ripped up seats at Celtic Park when the teams first played last month.
