Chanakya Daily current Affairs 20/03/2014 A Mumbai court today found four men guilty of the gang-rape of two women in the abandoned Shakti Mills compound in the heart of the city last year. A 23-year-old photojournalist was allegedly gang-raped while she was on an assignment at the deserted mill on August 22nd. All the four accused have been convicted. The fifth accused, a minor, is being tried in a juvenile court. Days after their arrest, a telephone operator came forward revealing that three of the accused had also gang-raped her on July 31st. A 362-page charge sheet was filed against four of the accused in October. The accused lived at a nearby slum. Forensic evidence, call data records and DNA reports were stacked against the four convicts. The sentencing of the convicts will be pronounced tomorrow. Special prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said that strict punishment will be demanded for all the guilty. Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil was present at the court today. Reacting to the verdict, he said that the verdict sends out a positive message and justice has been served to the families of the survivors.
