Changing the way we think and see things from a different perspective #auspol #ausvotes Those of us who have dealt with politics at an academic or vocational level see current events in a different way. A comment just posted made me realise, thanks Karen. For myself I have a degree in Economics and Political Science and Honours in International Relations plus I worked as a civvie in the Dfat and DoD. Because of that I see things in a way others may not. I look at the Abbott governments activities from my perspective as both student and professional in the field. Karen mentioned how Abbott is trying to bypass the Senate. My immediate thought was is that Constitutional? Then it hit me. The Parliamentary Library has an excellent series of articles and papers. Read them on line. As I posted last week sitting around whingeing, although we do need to, is by itself non productive. So keep in mind. Ask. Can they do it? What does the Constitution say? What international laws may be being broken? What specific instances do we know of? It is important to keep track of this mobs activities but maybe we need to be more specific in our claims. What human rights provisions do we think may have been broken? Read the UN Charter on it. Tony Abbott is playing on your ignorance and gullibility. Thats how he is getting away with murder, possibly literally. The most potent weapon we have is our voices and educated ones at that. Call him out at every turn. I cannot instill years of education and experience into anyone but you can inform yourselves very well, most of you do and I know I learn a lot from you. Familiarise yourselves with parliamentary proceedings, Standing Orders, political convention, the Constitution. Abbotts worst nightmare, the sheep he has been feeding bullshit to for 5 years (not you) wake up, know better and call him out. I am taking time out to type this as I am looking into the Constitution, the UN Charter and several UN Conventions to see what Abbott may have done wrong. For me anyway its more productive than only sitting on here complaining. Philip.
