Chauncey Goss will not run in Congressional race Chauncey Goss, who’s been considering another bid for Congress, said Monday he will not be a candidate in the race to replace former Republican U.S. Rep. Trey Radel. Goss, a Sanibel resident, said he has too many business obligations---a former U.S. House budget staffer, he has his own consulting business that helps clients with federal budget issues---and family considerations to join the race for Congress. Goss has children a few years away from college, and said that his responsibility to his family takes first priority over the commitment needed to serve as a representative in Washington, D.C. He also said he’s still interested in public service, and would not close the door on running for another seat or at some other time.
