Check out our Kickstarter update and help us spread the word about our cook book campaign!!! Dear Backers, We are two weeks into our Kickstarter campaign. Thank you for supporting our project. We would like to give you a brief update and walk you through the itinerary of where we will be taking you. We are planning to be in Morocco around mid-February 2014. Marrakesh will be our base and first stop. The city offers a diverse culinary experience and a wide range of street food. Its geographical location makes it the ideal starting point. We will be exploring nearby cities like Essaouira, located on the Atlantic Ocean, the city port has BBQ stalls that turn the daily catch into divine bites. From Marrakech, we will head north east to the city of Fès. Its ancient Medina sizzles with food joints and delicacies. From flavored olives to fruit and nut nougat, Fès specialties are a pillar in Moroccan cuisine. We will also explore the nearby city of Chefchaoun, located in the Rif Mountains. From Fès we will head to Tangiers, once an international city in the early 20th century and then a Spanish protectorate. The Spanish influence can be seen everywhere. Tangiers is famous for its street food. From its mint tea in long-drink glasses (instead of a tea pot) flavored with orange flowers or Lipton tea bags to its Bocadillo joints (Spanish for sandwich) that make people wait in long lines. From Tangiers, we will head down to Casablanca, the largest city in Morocco and its urban center. Casablanca is very neighborhood oriented, and offers a wide variety of street food and eating habits typical of a metropolis. Not mentioning the road stops along this Moroccan road trip. Food is so important to Moroccans that some road stops became famous nationwide and people would make long detours for a slow cooked tagine or BBQ meat balls (Kefta)... In total we expect to spend about 10 weeks on the ground. We cant wait to bring you the tastes and flavors of this unique cuisine, and show you how the locals appreciate it.
