Chef Darren Weiss, who is hearing-impaired, taught a group of children with profound hearing loss how to cook Tuesday at Darren’s Restaurant in Manhattan Beach, along with the basics of owning a restaurant and healthy eating. Hearing-impaired comedienne and actress Kathy Buckley joined the children as they prepared and cooked their lunch. The children are part of No Limits for Deaf Children’s after-school program, aimed at developing and improving the language skills of low-income children with varying degrees of profound hearing loss.
