Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has admitted he seriously considered leaving Stamford Bridge to move abroad at the end of last season. Lampard had just one year remaining on his contract with the Blues and was being overlooked regularly by interim coach Rafael Benitez. The 35-year-old admitted that he grew tired of watching on from the sidelines and a number of clubs from around the world started to show an interest in acquiring his signature. However, the England international was eventually offered a one-year extension and insists he still has plenty to offer the west London club. Lampard said: Yes, there was [a genuine possibility of leaving] because at one stage I was out of contract and I wasnt going to get a new one. It was the first time I had been in that situation, so I had to open my eyes to going elsewhere. But I didnt want to leave because I still have a lot to offer. If I had left I would have gone abroad, I just cant imagine myself playing for another Premier League team after such a long career at Chelsea.
