Chemical engineering video: Dr S. Sridhar, principal scientist - Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) – India. Dr. S. Sridhar has contributed immensely to industrial development, rural welfare, academic and educational progress through membrane technology in India. Communities in India are benefitting from his technologies such as the establishment of water purification plants in fluorosis affected villages to provide safe drinking water. His industrial separation work has resulted in seven international patents between 2007-2012, including a novel electrodialysis-distillation integrated process to recover solvents from pharmaceutical effluent. Amongst his other achievements, Dr Sridhar has commissioned the first pilot plant in India for purification of natural gas and a commercial plant for extraction of impurity-free sodium thiocyanate solvent. Dr S. Sridhar has published 100 technical papers including six review articles in international journals. He has received over 2,300 citations.
