Chennai Express, which is still running, has broken the four-year-old record held by Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. The film has crossed the coveted 202.57-crore mark, which was the highest theatrical revenue for an Indian film after deduction of tax. Chennai Express has created many records at the box office; the movie earned Rs 33.12 crore on the opening day, breaking the first day collection record of Rs 30.50 crore set by Salman Khan’s “EkTha Tiger”. Next, it crossed the100 crore mark in just 4 days. Chennai Express was released in 2,550 cinemas with 3,650 screens. On the other hand, 3 Idiots was released in approximately 1,149 screens.
