Cheyenne tells reba about her drinking problem. Says she doesnt know what to do. Reba says first thing is put drink down. Second thing-reba embraces cheyenne with unconditional love. Cheyenne says idk what to do mom. Reba says I know baby. For those of you who do not know-gambling ate me from the inside out the way cancer does, but even slower. I saw what it did to my parents (who could do nothing). My parents embraced me unconditionally even when i could not stand to take my next breath. Addiction is a disease. A ruthless, vindictive, non discriminating disease. It affects the diseased as it does the codependents. Its one that creates a very distinct line between empathy and sympathy. One cannot be more than one with it. Either sympathetic or empathetic. However, one can be addicted and also codependent. That scene is so powerful to the empathetic!
