Chief Allen Bob Hermann departed the flight line March 23, 2014 in St. Leonard, MD. Robert Allen Bob Hermann, 47 of St. Leonard, MD passed away peacefully at his residence on March 23, 2014. He was born on May 31, 1966 in Decatur, IL to Lynnette and Ronald Hermann. He married Melinda Kristie Mindy Parks on August 29, 2009 in Westminster, MD. Chief graduated from Sullivan High School in 1985 and went on to join the US Navy. He served his country honorably from November 12, 1985 until his retirement as a Chief Petty Officer on November 30, 2009. While in the Navy he received the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Navy / MC Commendation Medal (2), Navy / MC Achievement Medal (5), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation (2), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Navy E Ribbon (3), Navy Good Conduct Medal (7), National Defense Service Medal (2), Kosovo Campaign Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, NATO Medal, Navy Expert Rifleman Medal, Navy Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon, Naval Air Crewman, and Master Training Specialist. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 2012 and was a Logistics Management Specialist with Naval Air Systems Command / Air 6.7, NAS Patuxent River, MD. He moved to Calvert Co. from Norfolk, VA in 2006 and enjoyed spending time with his family and woodworking. Bobs greatest joy in life was his daughter Haley. Chief Hermann is survived by his wife, Melinda Mindy Hermann of St. Leonard, MD; daughter, Haley Lynn Hermann of St. Leonard, MD; parents, Lynnette and Ronald Hermann of Sullivan, IL; and siblings, Douglas Hermann (Missy) and Michael Hermann (Kim) both of Decatur, IL. The family request memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to be made to the Haley Hermann College Fund; made payable to Edward Jones, Account 623-14923-1-2, 25 D Main Street, Reisterstown, MD 21136 or to Calvert Hospice, calverthospice.org, P.O. Box 838, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. Ceremony Details: The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Rausch Funeral Home Chapel, 20 American Lane, Lusby, MD. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Reese officiating. Interment will be private.
