China is covered with smog because of the use of coal to fire their factories.Coal is the worst culprit as far as green house gas emissions are concerned.Apart from its carbon dioxide emissions,it has waste management problems.Ghana has an obligation to transit to low carbon economy.The gas infrastructure at Atuabo has a great role to play in this direction since it emits 45% less than coal and 35% less than oil.However,as a long term measure we should be moving towards solar and wind sources of energy.Apart from China,many countries such as USA,Britain,etc are decommissioning their coal power generation plants for environmental reasons.Eventhough it is the cheapest source of energy,we should remember that cheap things are costly.Lets be caution in our attempt to address our energy shortfall
