Chinese Grand Prix 2011 More info: https://facebook/pages/Fans-of-F1/468790363222801 The Formula One season has begun with mixed fortunes for the British McLaren team. After a reasonable season last year, McLaren are faced with another uphill task this time around of trying to compete with Red Bull as well as reigning in any challenges from a Ferrari side who have shown a decent level of pace of late. But the other teams will be as wary of McLaren and I mean no disrespect to our boys whatsoever. Lets just keep our fingers crossed that the boys can pull it out of the bag eh? In saying that however, Red Bulls Sebastien Vettel looks pretty darn fast and has won the opening two races with some class - most recently this weekend just gone in Malaysias capital city of Kuala Lumpur. And might Renault be something of a dark horse this year? Heidfelds podium finish in KL might suggest as much. In this weekends race just gone (Malaysia), Lewis Hamilton was penalised for clashing with Ferraris main man Fernando Alonso and had to settle for a disappointing 8th place, but Jenson Button drove expertly to claim his first podium finish in 2nd place. Good man. This coming weekend its off to Chinas largest city of Shanghai for the 3rd race of the season where McLaren will be keen to ensure a decent grid start for Sunday race. Hamilton agonisingly lost pole in Malaysia at the very last second thanks to an unbelievable final lap by Vettel in qualifying. Buttons shortcomings last year stemmed largely from a series of underwhelming qualifying performances so Saturday may well prove to be a crucial day in establishing some level of authority on the track. Known for its long strait and series of sharp, challenging bends, the China track usually throws up an interesting and engaging race.
