Choose Joy…Moving Beyond Happiness Acts 16 and Philippians 1 June 23, 2013 Pastor Todd Harker Scripture Emphasis: Acts 16:10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. So often we strive for the wrong thing. This is true in the area of happiness. We long for it, plan for it and strive for it. When bad things happen we lose it. Happiness is perhaps the most elusive thing on the planet because of this. Joy is different. It is truly a choice we make to believe that God is in control regardless of the circumstances. Believing and living this way will truly change our lives. As we study this concept, let’s Choose Joy because when we do we will be able to accomplish the following… 1. ADAPT to different environments – Acts 16:11-15 2. MINISTER to the needs of others – Acts 16:16-18 3. SING in the midst of suffering – Acts 16:19-28 4. SHARE with those who are perishing – Acts 16:29-32 5. INVEST in those we have impacted – Acts 16:33-40 6. SERVE in times of uncertainty – Phil. 1:1 7. BLESS others who are in our lives – Phil 1:1, 2
