Choosing a wedding photographer Choosing the right photographer is one of the most important decision you will make when it comes to planning your wedding. It can also be an extremely daunting task of seeking out and interviewing the right fit for your big day. You want you photographer to capture the first look, nuptials and kiss the way youve envisioned it from day one. You want them to be able to tell your story through their lens. The right shots will forever take you back to one of the happiest day of your life. Here, I have listed for you my top 5 most important tips on choosing your photographer: 1. Interview Meet with and focus on potential photographers whose portfolio gives you the wow factor in terms of your photography style. Make sure that you have a list of questions to ask that are important to you. Many photographers can also do blended mixture of styles, so ensure that their style is best suited to you and your spouses needs. I will recommend booking your photographer early on in your planning g stages and meeting with him/her at least 3 times before the big day to get acquainted. 2. Review, review, review! Ask previous clients and vendors for feedback. Great wedding photographers will have successful repertoire with others and will be quickly recommended. Ask previous clients to see their wedding album. Did their photographer meet their needs? Ask fellow vendors whove worked with them previously such as florist, baker, Dj, etc for their recommendations. If you receive positive feedback, youre in the liklihood of working with a seasoned photographer. 3. Cost! What are you paying for your photographer? It is important to know that you get what you pay for and your photos are a BIG part of your wedding that you will have forever. Check their prices out thoroughly and and follow your guts. If you think that their prices are way too cheap, they probably are! Some photographers will try to under -cut to give you cheaper prices to get your business. On the other hand, it is also worth it to pay more for a. Well established photographer. Ask questions about the amount of weddings they do each year, are they insured? Their delivery time frame? How long do they keep your edits? You do not always need the most expensive package, just as long as it has everything that you require and the photographer is in good standing with the industry. 4. Personality. It is important that you share a positive chemistry with your photographer. You will be working very closely with your photographer on your big day, so being like-minded is extremely important. Youll want to hire someone that is easy to get along with, and who is comfortable and confident enough to handle anyvsituation. Their personality should set an atmosphere of relaxation for all of your guest. 5. Contracts It is very easy for someone to overlook the legal side of any small business related activity, however, it is extremely important that you are working with a photographer who is able to cover you as well as themselves if something were to happen. Having a clear contract makes your business together more formal and professional. Ensure that your agreed upon contract early states your price and payment options, hours of service to be provided, whether a second photographer is to be provided, delivery time, and a failure to comply clause. These are all vital components of hiring a legit photographer and helps to ensure your happiness on your wedding day. With these, youre on your way to having one of the best days of your life! JPM
