“Christ sacrificed his life’s blood to set us free, which means that our sins are now forgiven. Christ did this because God was so kind to us. God has great wisdom and understanding,” (Ephesians 1:7 – Contemporary English Version) I think freedom and forgiveness go together. Because we’ve been forgiven, we’re now free to face the future without being anchored to where we’ve been or what we’ve done. We no longer need to be controlled by past mistakes and misjudgements. In God’s sight, we’ve been washed clean; therefore, if we choose to be enslaved to the past, it’s our choice, not his.
