Christian Theologys Greatest Hits, Volume I: why women are inferior, a Review. The roots of this philosophy are quite simple, drawn almost note for note from the original Judaic texts, with a smattering of the prevailing cultural ethos of their times. Saint Augustine (Augie the Hippo) is the first to begin fusing original ideas into the framework without losing the essence of the beat. Some 900 years later, Saint Thomas (Little Tommy) Aquinas begins experimenting more with cultural norms, including what is thought to be science at the time, cleverly referencing seed, and suggesting without possibly knowing, the existence and influence of genetics, an astonishingly forward-looking stylistic advance. Some 200 years later, the rebels, personified primarily by Martin (Marty to my friends) Luther, exploded onto the scene, with a loud, heavy, Return to Roots beat set to themes that themselves were revolutionary, for the first time weaving social upheaval into the by now tried and true, Men Good, Women Bad formula. This can fairly be said to have ushered in the modern Christian Misogynist movement. The dry irony of Calvin serves as both counterpoint and question mark. Are these guys serious, or is it a grand parody? As misogyny enters the New World in the 15th century, it begins to splinter along fault lines that remain evident today, with conservative and liberal versions, as well as all flavors in between. The simplicity of Dod, the deranged wackiness of Joseph (Papa Joe) Smith and his followers, the brilliant adjective-laden improvisational riffs of Fowler, all culminating in the Punk stylings of Pat (The Idiot) Robertson and the White Evangelicals. It remains to be seen how misogyny will evolve in the coming years, but despite the current anti-misogyny movement now trending on social media, it seems clear that with a history like this, it will remain a strong social force well into the future. This album gives an excellent overview of that history, and is an invaluable addition to the library of any serious student of misogyny. ★★★★1/2.
