Christmas 2014 All the Goldens in our household are healthy and happy albeit not always wealthy or wise. ... =^) It has been a good year. I started 2014 by promising to write a PDF book first draft on the history of the Golden, Golding and Goulding families in the USA. That book did not come to pass but an outline did ... and along the way much research was done. It will happen in 2015! For my own Golden line, 2014 was an outstanding year for making progress on pushing back the family history and learning more. Many thanks go to Tom Young for educating me on DNA and to Carol Alessi for her non-stop family research -- they and I are descendents of Nathaniel Greene Goulden/Golden Sr. (c1784) of Keowee, Pickens, South Carolina. YDNA -- I cannot say enough good about taking a YDNA test. Whether you are stuck at a solid brick wall or you have a shaky documented family history (most do beyond 1850), having a YDNA test is not only essential but should be expected as a core part of any genealogic research. YDNA testing has allowed our family to connect to two different previously unconnected Golden lines of cousins which track back to our common ancestor in the 1780 -- there is no known existing documentation except for YDNA testing which has allowed us to knit together our pre-Revolutionary War family.
