{{ Christmas Fun with Francine }} What is your favorite Christmas treat? My favorite holiday treat is my daughter Shannon’s homemade fudge. Yummmy! It reminds me of my grandmother’s fudge—without the nuts. And only 3,000 calories a piece! At what age did you discover Santa Claus wasn’t real? I don’t remember the year I figured out that Santa Claus wasn’t real, but I know I must have been relieved rather than disappointed. Christmas was pretty confusing and stressful at times. Are we celebrating Jesus’ birthday or just waiting to see if the man in the red suit decides to grace us with his gifts? We went to a neighborhood Christmas party every year, and I was scared to death of Santa Claus. I didn’t want to sit in his lap or whisper in his ear. I figured out he was one of the neighbors dressed up in costume and playing stand-in. But then the big question loomed. Would the real guy show up on our roof Christmas Eve night? Would he like the cookies we left out? And how would he manage to slide his bulk down our chimney? How did he do that anyway?! Worse, I didn’t really like the idea that some fat old man with a white beard was watching me all year long and would decide if I was good enough to receive a present on Christmas. What were the ground rules? Some of the meanest kids in school got piles of presents! I knew I’d get a new set of pajamas and a doll or game. I think my brother told me the truth. If not, then I probably happened across that Norman Rockwell picture of the little boy finding the Santa Claus suit in the bottom drawer of his father’s dresser. ** What are your answers to these questions? ** Tomorrow, Christmas fun with Francine wraps up with how she remembers the real reason for the season. Merry Christmas!
