Christmas with the family will reflect how my 2014 went in general: low-key and a bit minimal, with a smattering of adventure sprinkled in there. I am thankful to be back in the Northwest. Before I arrived here, I promised the Lord that I would take full advantage of the beautiful landscape that is my home state. I did so, completing the 204-mile Seattle to Portland bike ride and hiking 130 miles in and around the Mount St. Helens area. I celebrate the beauty around me constantly, but more so at this glorious time. I have made many new friends, brothers and sisters in the faith who are a source of encouragement. I celebrate your friendship, and the continued relationships with friends from years past, on this joyous holiday. Jesus, whose birth we celebrate tomorrow, has been there through the easy times and the tremendously difficult. I hope and pray He does the same for you all, and it is with that spirit that I wish you all a very merry Christmas wherever you may be.
