Christs image on the cross with blood dripping from his palms, - TopicsExpress

Christs image on the cross with blood dripping from his palms, feet and head is that of extreme physical violence. However, what it evokes in most people is not aversion or the usual reaction to violence or pity, but a sense of kindness and calm flows from that image. That transformation of such a violent suffering in to kindness and a sense of calm is the enduring meaning in that image for me, which I only understood recently. It is still relevant in a world when people are turned into guinea pigs for the profit of a powerful few. And some openly declare that anything new will be tested on anyone with not much money (99% of humanity) and even get praised for it. Obviously, the image is not meant to get us used to the violence so that we become meh to all the different kinds of violence happening to people in the world. I can imagine people say Oops, another Christ gets crucified and lets bury him with a cross and maybe sing a song. I also dont think the meaning suggests we need to get crucified repeatedly through out our life time, but to deal such violence with a sense of calm which is indeed very difficult...Obviously, the next question to ask is why let some people crucify Christs in the world when you have the power to stop it.
