Click to view this email in a browser DALLAS COMPANION ANIMAL PROJECT Bringing our Community together to Save Lives As 2014 comes to a close, The Dallas Companion Animal Project (DCAP) is proud of another successful year of bringing the community together to save lives. Because of your belief in our mission and your financial support, DCAP was able to help so many more animals at Dallas Animal Services, along with those outside the shelter in need of medical care, food and shelter. Your donations provided over 3,000 free spay-neuter surgeries in low-income areas; preventing unwanted litters of puppies and kittens to help Dallas become a city where no healthy or treatable animals are euthanized due to space. Through our “Friends of DAS” program, your contributions provided valuable progressive training programs to DAS staff, supplied equipment to enhance animal care and customer service, and contributed to happy reunions of pets with their owners. Friends of DAS” ensured that 35+ adoptable heartworm positive dogs were provided life-saving free heartworm treatments. Through the HSUS Pets for Life Program, ample food supplies, medical treatments, spay-neuter surgeries, micro-chips and vaccinations were given to several hundred pets; allowing them to stay in their homes and out of the shelter. DCAP worked closely with our invaluable 100+ Transfer Partners, providing them with resources, which enabled them to pull more animals than ever from the shelter, and into new homes. For these partners, we are eternally grateful! DCAP served as the vital conduit between DAS and multiple private funding opportunities resulting in over $250,000 of private funding through grants and donations. DCAP is proud of our 75 non-profit partners who have helped us give out over $300,000 of goods through the DCAP Assistance Network. Our newly revamped social media avenues - our website, Facebook and Twitter have helped hundreds of hard to place pets find homes. We are proud to report that Dallas Animal Services has reached the highest level of “Live Release Rate” ever in its history, meaning that the quality of life has greatly improved for people and animals.
