Clubbing in San Francisco: Easy to get to via BART. Hard to get home from because BART shuts down at midnight local time. You have to know what bus to take, where to get it, and when to get it if you want to get home. For the record, to get home from the Cat Club, walk up to Seventh and Market Streets and wait for the 800 at the corner (do NOT cross the street!) Strangely, cabs dont necessarily leave SF (say, if you want to get across the Bridge). If you try to hail a hack youll probably get turned down and left in the dust.
