Cold Case Homicide Arrest On June 16, 2001, at approximately 5:00 p.m., three suspects entered the Dollar Store at 2900 N. 75th Avenue. The store clerk was assaulted and a customer, Jaime Olivera-Perez was shot and killed. It is unknown what motivated the attack. The case was worked extensively by detectives, but the leads were exhausted and the case went cold. Cold Case Unit detectives began a review of the case in 2012. Through their investigative work and advances in analytical and forensic technology, Michael C. Moye was identified as one of the suspects in the murder. A warrant for his arrest was obtained by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. The warrant information was provided to detectives from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and they arrested Moye in Moss Point, Mississippi. He was booked in the Jackson County Jail, charged with murder and is currently awaiting extradition back to Arizona.
