Colin and I took advantage of a free day at Chicago’s Field - TopicsExpress

Colin and I took advantage of a free day at Chicago’s Field Museum yesterday and enjoyed a visit with the dinosaurs. The dinosaur museum is one of Colin’s favorite in Chicago. Our first stop at the museum is always to say hi to Sue, the largest, most complete T. rex ever discovered. Colin always asks the question – who brushes her teeth? We still don’t have the answer to that question! Our next stop was the Nature Walk. There’s a large amount of animal specimens which he enjoys. I think he likes this section better than the zoo because the animals are much closer and easier to see up close. His favorite is pushing all the buttons that make the animal sounds. Buttons seem to make all museums better! We then ventured up in the elevator to the dinosaurs. We visited the Stegosaurus – which has the diamond-shaped plates on his back. (Colin learned that from one of the dinosaur books that he has at home. He also has a toy Stegosaurus that he cooks for in his play kitchen.) We then find the huge Sauropod footprint that Colin can sit in. We have a picture of Colin sitting in that footprint from each time that we’ve visited the museum. It’ll be fun to continue this tradition and watch him grow into it. Lastly, we stopped in the Family PlayLab for some kid-sized fun and play. There’s a music room where Colin can bang on the drums, ring the bells, and dance around while jamming with other kids. There’s more fun to be had in the adobe house and corn harvest area. Colin picks corn, stores it away in the house, and transports it to different areas while interacting with the other kids playing there. It’s always a good end to a fun-filled museum visit.
