Collectivism is the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals. Racism is based on this very principal. Collectivists think only in groups. Our culture encourages this Collective principal in our text books and on our news programs. The divides that seem to be destroying America are rooted in Collectivism. Christians incensed with hate towards Muslims, Conservatives bashing Liberals, and Republicans against Democrats. Forming opinions based on a very narrow parameter of inspection and then assigning those attributes to an entire group will be found to be unwarranted. A great effort and a good deal of money continue to be spent towards proving the Negro is of inferior intelligence. Tests given to the military conscripts and recruits during World War I prove intelligence has nothing to do with race. Scores among blacks were ten points higher than whites. Collectivism allows for the bigotry and prejudices that fuel class wars, economic diversity and social prejudices. In High School many of us can remember the cultural divides that we were all judged by. .Kids whose parents lived in the right part of town, owned a business or skilled worker, blue collar or white collar, were you wearing the latest fashion or somebodies hand me downs. The controversy and social intrigue of those days was driven by the Collectivist attitude and passed on from generation to generation. It is the way to judge people without expending much effort. Even the most athletic guy and the prettiest most popular girl felt the social pressure. Collectivism is as insidious as it pretends to align with survival. Conformity may be the path of least resistance but it is an awful price when examining our current social, economic and political structure. World War III should not be another Collective decision.
