Collegemen, The Great College on Friday, October 25, 2013 silenced the Famed Purples from North Street with a 1 - 0 defeat in the second round of the 2013 Manning Cup. The match was played at the Constant Spring Football Field. Smarting from the one (1) love defeat to Excelsior High in the 2013 Walker Cup (Knock-Out) Competition, the Blue Machine was determined to set the records straight when they faced off against arch-rivals Kingston College. Reports indicate that It was not much of a contest as our late goal in the second half, a header from captain Junior Flemmings (#7) from a well-taken corner kick by Kevin Blackwood (#12), was not a reflection of how well our opponents played, but rather, what many consider, a level of apprehensiveness on the part of our players, having lost to Excelsior High just a few days before (Tuesday, October 22). The victory was a morale booster for our boys who were disappointed by the defeat earlier in the week. We have two (2) more matches in this second round, as indicated in the schedule below. Monday, November 4, 2013 JC vs Charlie Smith High Venue: Spanish Town Prison Oval Match Time: 3:00pm Friday, November 8, 2013 JC vs Hydel High Venue: Constant Spring Football Field Match Time: 3:00pm. We continue to urge the Old Boys Community to give full support to our team. The Manning Cup is within our reach! Fervet Leon Fraser Treasurer JCOBA
