!!!Colorado Transport update!!!! Im making this on my own, because Michelle Davis Sanders is currently in Colorado and I want to help clarify a few things if possible. (Please keep in mind, Im just a foster helping out when and where I can) I made a post regarding the process and what the goal was/is recently and if you search my name on the top right where it says Search this group you can find it and read it; it is pretty detailed. However, in light of recent events I feel it is necessary to bring up some things to avoid complications, confusion, etc. First things first --- Most people in Colorado are extremely fearful of heartworms and they dont want to handle sick dogs; Also, it is difficult to help with treatment so far away. Therefore, Michelle and Guardians Rescue are no longer transporting HW+ to Colorado. There have been complications and to avoid further issues, this became a group decision that was agreed upon. There may be a few special circumstances down the road but as for now. HW+ is ineligible for CO Transport through Michelle and Guardians Rescue. Issue number 2 --- Because of all of the tests (temperament, medical, etc.) that a dog must pass prior to transport, We are now asking that if you want to donate to a specific dog, that you wait until the dog has been accepted for CO transport before sending donation on a SPECIFIC dog. We have experienced issues with pulled dogs that have been sponsored but are denied health certificate for one reason or another. This needs to be avoided if we want to continue saving dogs. Now, if you meet a dog at animal control that you think would be great for CO; please contact Michelle, Belinda, or myself. We will take a look and see what we can do. But, please understand that not only do they have to meet criteria, they must also have more than one application for adoption in as well as home visits scheduled BEFORE transport. That is why its difficult to save specific pups. If you would like to independently work on a specific dog for transport please keep in mind that the idea is to have more than one secure adoption application in BEFORE transport. Dog must also be fully vetted, spayed or neutered, have health certificate, and have transport fee paid in advance. Also, if you can not reach Michelle; please dont hesitate to bug me. Im in the loop and am trying to take some of this off Michelle and Belindas shoulders. I can answer most questions and can help with many different things. Michelle does have a job and a family as well. Her kids are begging for her attention and she was recently tackled while on the phone with me in an attempt to shift her focus on her kids. Please understand that she is trying her best but needs breaks too :) Please understand that the goal may still be to save as many as possible but more importantly its to do this right and not skip steps. We apologize for any confusion and appreciate the huge outpour of support and donations. We ask you to please bear with us as we work out the kinks.
