Coming home to Southern Illinois, I realize much more how Springfield has failed us. Unemployment is too high, the amount of quality jobs is even lower and the education system is failing our children and families. Im tired of canned, campaign ads about building a bridge and the lack of overall leadership weve had. Its time for a change, its time we prioritized real things. Education and the Economy are the things that matter for Southern Illinois. But what have we gotten? Conceal Carry (that was passed because the courts made a ruling that mandated it) and a bridge or two. Let me know if that puts food on your table or educates your child? Southern Illinois deserves real leadership that will prioritize the things that matter, with a clear voice and plan of action to tackle the corruption in Springfield. What do we get? Career politicians who are so heavily funded by special interest groups that nothing ever gets done. The old ways are not working and Im tired of seeing my family, friends and their families have to move away to find work. Im tired of seeing people have to work two or even three jobs to make ends meet because we cant attract businesses that will bring quality jobs here. We can no longer allow our biggest export to be our best and brightest, jobs and freedom, if we hope to survive. I think its time we imported some fresh ideas and leadership and sent the old-thinkers and career politicians packing. Our future is far too important to keep doing what weve always done; its time for something different.
