Comment on the deficit of medical treatment for Syrian children and adolescents who are currently residing in Lebanon Lebanon is equipped with the best hospitals and doctors in the Middle East, however roughly 90 % of the clinical medical care is part of the private and non-governmental sector – at the same time the costs of medical treatment are among the highest in the region. (Source: German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees) Many Lebanese children do neither have a national nor a private health insurance – Syrian refugee children fall completely through the system: International aid organizations like Médecins Sans Frontières and the International Committee of the Red Cross cover a big part of the medical treatment of sick or injured Syrian refugees in Lebanon, however complex and chronic disorders, often coupled with high costs cannot be treated.
