Commonwealth of Virginia Virginia Emergency Response Team (VERT) Virginia Emergency Operations Center (VEOC) 2013-06 Tropical Storm Andrea Spot Report #1 12:00 07 June 2013 Summary: Rain bands from Tropical Storm Andrea began to impact Virginia late Thursday evening. Rain and isolated thunderstorms continue on 7 June across Virginia along with potential for isolated tornadoes across areas of Eastern Virginia. VDEM/VEOC VEOC at Increased Readiness monitoring incident with normal staffing VERT agencies on standby WebEOC incident, 2013-06 Tropical Storm Andrea, created FEMA Region III IMAT Team 1 in VEOC No unmet needs Emergency Declarations: None Local Emergency Operations Centers Open: 1; Fairfax County, monitoring Local Shelters Open and Number of Occupants: None Local Actions/Anticipated Issues: Fairfax County – street flooding at Huntington; no unmet needs City of Newport News – partial activation of EOC scheduled for 1300; potential of isolated tornadoes; no unmet needs Isle of Wight County – monitoring; run-off flooding, ponding on roadways, and sporadic power outages; no unmet needs Henrico County – monitoring; potential localized flooding; no unmet needs Power Outages: No significant power outages reported Transportation: Roadways – VDOT reports 29 secondary roads closed; 14 flooded, 12 debris/trees down, and 3 washouts Railways – no reported impacts Weather Watches/Warnings: • Tropical Storm warning in effect until 5 pm Friday for the Lower Chesapeake Bay south of New Point Comfort. • Flood warning for Dan River through Saturday evening near Danville, through Sunday evening near Paces, and through Monday afternoon at South Boston. Minor flooding is forecast. • Flood warning for Roanoke River at Randolph through Sunday afternoon.
