Comparison shot for a recent “finished” project, for Andu - TopicsExpress

Comparison shot for a recent “finished” project, for Andu Mijomee and anyone else who may be interested. Yes, my painting technique could have been cleaner on this one. Many mistakes. I also have only the one chain, so I didn’t bother slapping in the spring and batteries I have sitting around. Let’s move on. The blue (Rustoleum Ultra-Cover Deep Blue Gloss) is a few shades lighter than the Elite blue, and definitely lighter than the “old” blue. Still, I’d rank it as “close enough.” The whites are *incredibly* close. Their textures, though, are another story. The Rustoleum Ultra-Cover Flat White (noticing a pattern?) comes on practically primer-flat. The white finish Hasbro uses, on the other hand, is more of a semi-gloss. The orange (Citadel Troll Slayer Orange) is way off. It’s much too dark. However, it’s the third orange I tried, and the other two were the polar opposite: much, MUCH too bright. Plus, Tamiya’s and Kwikcolor’s (sp?) oranges were runny and shitty. Obviously meant for someone with their own sprayer. The grey (Citadel Skavenblight Dinge) is also much lighter than Hasbro’s dark grey, but I don’t mind that much at all. I find it a nice visual median between the super-dark grey and the “standard” grey they use. The black (Citadel Abbadon Black) on the lettering is…well…it’s black. Does the job. *shrug* All in all, if you’re looking to go “Elite” with a paint job, I’d say this is on the right track. Not quite there, but a “good enough” cheap-ish option.
