Compatriots Please see Don Gordons Platform and Bio-Candidate for South Carolina Division Commander. I am a big supporter of Heritage Defense for our Southern Heritage and History. Don has always been dedicated to standing up for our rights as a leader in our organisation. He has friends with many media outlets within the state and has battled such organisations as the naacp, also railroad companies and South Carolina Electric and Gas Company-scana. Don has a degree in marketing from USC. This is definitely important in growing our Honourable Organisation. Also Don supports our Youth programs. He knows that the Youth is our Future! Jack Marlar, past S.C. Division Commander, ANV Commander and National Field Rep. also supports Don. I ask you to make the right decision and make sure our Honourable Organisation has a secure future by voting for Don Gordon. Please remember to read Dons Platform and Bio below. May God Bless Dixie and those who Defend Her! Kirk Carter ____________________________________________________________________ Compatriots I hope that you will take a few minutes of your time to read this announcement of my platform and my past service as I am a candidate for the Commander of the South Carolina Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I am Don Gordon and it has been my great honor to serve our cause for many years in the following positions. Two times Commander of the Lt. General Wade Hampton Camp in Columbia South Carolina. Just a few days after taking Command one or more vandals tore down three small flag poles which had stood for years next to a Jefferson Davis Highway marker near Lexington S.C.. Seven Days later the Lt. General Wade Hampton Camp erected much larger flag poles which still stand today. Within just a few weeks we encountered a much greater Heritage issue which had immense ramifications as South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCANA) announced to the press that from that point in time no vehicle could park in any SCANA parking lot if it had any form of Confederate Flag displayed upon it. What could have come next if no action was taken in response to this anti-Southern bigotry would the Telephone company and large banks have followed SCANAs example perhaps even Universities etc .. I took it upon myself to write a personal check for $2700 and Compatriot Jeff OCain matched my money with his and Radio Free Dixie was on the air on 8 radio stations across South Carolina standing up for the good name of the Confederate soldier. RFD was broadcasting from number One main Street right in front of our Statehouse in the afternoon drive time. I also had an artist friend draw the SCANA logo with a slight change: we spelled it SCANAWAG and this became our first political cartoon with many more to follow. The issue made the front page of the largest newspaper in the State and SCANA backed down and our rights were secure. RFD stayed on the air every week for a year until the radio station changed to a music format and it was discovered that Jeff and I couldnt sing. During the two years that I was the Commander of the WHC membership went up by more than 100 Compatriots with many associate members as well. I have served the South Carolina Division of the SCV as Chairman of our Heritage Defense Committee under two different Division Commanders and I have also served as the Chairman of the Division Confederate Memorial Day observations in Columbia S.C.. I have also served as the Lt. Commander of our beloved Division when I once again paid to get Radio Free Dixie back on the air in Columbia with Compatriot Larry Salley ESQ. as my co-host. Many of you helped our efforts by subscribing to receive audio CDs of our radio program of which I personally burned and mailed out more than 7000 CDs the old fashion way (one at a time). In addition I had friends in Atlanta put up a website where we had various videos of our radio shows and other videos where we tried to see that the true history of the South was presented to future generations. RFD was also broadcasted as an Internet radio show on Dixiebroadcasting . If I am elected by you to be your Division Commander my first order of business will be to try once again to grow our membership in a comprehensive marketing offensive (my Degree from U.S.C. is in marketing). First we will try to drive traffic to our scscv website by having a section that will have links to music videos that people can watch for free and be inspired by Southern music as well as Christian music. We will have other links to videos that teach the true history of the South and others that will show the various press conferences that we have had in the past so that the general public can see that we will fight for our rights. Our young people are on the Internet however they are not reading books they are watching videos. I would of course keep the new gmail system of contacting Camp and Division officers however I would make the documents accessible through links in the Adjutants section of our website so that we can fill out the forms online in a user friendly manner however we would still accommodate Camps that for whatever reason need to mail in paper copies. It is your Division and it should serve the needs of the Camps. Communications is somewhat like the weather a lot of people talk about it but no one seems to do anything about it. I would have a voluntary text message service so that we could get information to our key Compatriots immediately when the need arises (like a Heritage violation). If you send me an e-mail I will read it when I check my computer however if you send me a text message I will read it right away. I carry a cell phone I do not carry a computer. The last thing that I would like to talk about is the Sam Davis Youth Camp. Our young people do not receive the same sort of education that we grew up with. Today everything has gone the way of the politically correct when we were children the gold standard was to tell the truth and be fair. We MUST teach our future leaders what the TRUTH is. They cant fight for their rights if they dont know what rights they have. I will do everything in my power to support the Sam Davis Youth Camp and I will also try to have it brought back to South Carolina where it belongs. History has recorded that our ancestors did their duty now we must continue to do ours because its not just about 150 years ago its about 150 years from now. SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS ... Don Gordon
