Selling of NCAT Sometimes last year, unions in aviation industry had to call a meeting to raise an alarm that there is a plot to sell NCAT to some companies “that have nothing to do with aviation industry.” The unions’ alarm made the aviation ministry and NCAT to come out and debunk the allegation. However, sometimes in May this year, the issue resurfaced when NCAT’s authorities announced the appointment of some management staff, which changed the structure of the college to a commercial outfit. This development, it is learnt, caused apprehension among staff, and the Rector had to address the staff to debunk what she called a “baseless rumour and allegation.” The PRO of the college, Mr. Dimka, also issued a press statement denying the sale allegation, a copy of which is in possession of Weekly Trust. However, Weekly Trust is also in possession of a proposal brought by three companies - Africa-Nordic Energy Resources Ltd, Espardate Equipment Company Ltd and Scandic Construction Ltd – for a “public private sector partnership” with NCAT. The selling of NCAT, our sources claimed, “would materialise very soon unless well-meaning Nigerians intervene. If the commercialisation of NCAT is allowed to take place, only God knows what would happen to that college.”
